Luis's imagery is derived from pictures of slums, political graffiti, Venezuelan people, and government propaganda. He is influenced by political artists such as Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Sisqueiros. They were socially committed artists who had dramatic influence in the United States, as well as in their own country. They transformed their art into a vehicle for public understanding of social change. They were all political, revolutionary, artists dealing with the issues that surrounded them. Likewise, Luis's art probes Venezuelan society and culture.
"I strive to create art that engages the viewer through its message and craft. The way the paint is applied corresponds with the subject matter. As a contemporary artist I hope to contribute to the art world and help push it forward."
